Solid-State Laser Educational Setup
The solid-state laser educational setup uses a semiconductor diode laser as the pump source and Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (Nd:YAG) as the gain medium. By allowing students to assemble the optical resonant cavity hands-on, the instrument achieves 1064 nm laser output and elevates practical experimental skills. Featuring an end-pumping architecture, one face of the laser crystal is coated with anti-reflection (AR) for the pump light and high-reflection (HR) for the output laser—acting as the input mirror—while a concave mirror with specified transmittance serves as the output coupler on the right, forming a classic plano-concave cavity to produce free-space laser output. Furthermore, students can conduct frequency-doubling experiments using a KTP crystal and passive Q-switching experiments using a Chromium-doped YAG (Cr:YAG) crystal to generate pulsed laser output.
